The Brave and the Kind: A film by John W. Yost

The grocery store was soooo quiet.

I went to the store to buy a few things. No one was smiling…no one was talking…it was an eerie experience. I hope this has gotten people to think. I hope it doesn’t take much more for people to understand how important this presidential election is. I hope it makes people rethink their priorities. I believe in people…I hope we can all believe in each other.

Cheers
John

People voting for the presidential election is of course very very important. I just want to add a few other suggestions, in my opinion, that might help as well. A lot of people have been faithfully voting forever and the world is still in bad shape. We all need to find something we can do looking beyond voting, to help improve the world. We can’t be lulled into thinking that if we just vote for the “right” person everything will be ok and we did all we could to make it better. That is clearly not working! As individuals we all need to live by what we know is good for our world and that example will inspire and give courage to others to do the same. We need to take responsibility for our own actions and hold others to that as well, moving towards each individual taking care of themselves. We can’t look to others to do things for us out of laziness. We can’t really help people who are lazy either or they will never have the motivation to do it for themselves and then they will never really know the awesome feelings that come from that.
To sacrifice in one area to beable to afford another or to sacrifice in one area to help a loved one that has a problem they need help with, is something we need to do more of. Remember that where we place our money is what we are supporting. If an item is way over priced because the people selling it are greedy and adding more of a profit margin than they should [and often at the same time they are exploting groups of people who are working at slave labor wages] don’t buy it because then you are supporting greed and slave labor.
All we truely have control over in this world are our own actions, so don’t go against what you believe but also respect what others believe. Those will be character examples you are setting. We all at one time or another buy something we don’t need at an over the top price because we convince ourselves we have to have it or we say, “I know I shouldn’t but I am going to anyway.” These are things we have control over for ourselves and if we all did it it would make a difference. Don’t think for one minute that making good choices of who and where you place your money doesn’t make a statement or have an impact, this is capitolism so it can have a huge affect.
We need to think of some way to make our elected officials be held more personally responsible for their actions. They can not keep messing up and covering up for each other which then forms a club of people who think they are above the law and all the rest of us who are responsible have to work 2 and 3 jobs to pay for them and their actions. When they digress into talking about who did what to whom instead of what their plan is to help the country and world be a better place we need to make a statement and shut the TV off. We have to stop excepting or buying into smoke screens that do not help us at all. Politicians are good at smoke screens that keep us from noticing they are not doing their real job.
We all need to keep learning new things every day, keep growing and doing what we know is best and right to show everyone that morals are important and valuable for people to have and live by. That is again what we have control over. I recently read a book with the qoute, “The world is only as big as what you know.” It is a great statement and I don’t think they mean how much gossip or bullshit you know either but that is what people sometimes seem willing to fill their life up with a lot of the time. I wish everyone would think of one thing to do because we can control our own actions, that could help the world to be a better place, because we all have to work together. Put ourselves in a more pro-active state rather than a compacent state. I know we all get tired out trying to survive at times and the more of these finacial burdens that are put on us the more tired we get.
My sons just recently inspired me to concentrate on getting back to a more pro-active state once again, they kind of rebooted me, and this is one of my first actions in the line of being rebooted. Thank You Boys!!!
Let’s hear others ideas and work together!
